The seaside community of Salinas, known for its seafood restaurants and nautical activities, was transformed through the redesign of four disconnected open spaces. These were unified into a cohesive series of public plazas along the waterfront. Several abandoned buildings were demolished, opening up long-blocked views of the Caribbean Sea. Upon arriving from downtown Salinas, visitors are welcomed by a small plaza with sweeping sea views. New sidewalks now connect the plazas, two of which directly face the water. Lively pavilions in two of the plazas provide essential space for food vendors and water sports equipment rentals.
