EMBLEMATIC FENCE - UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO - BOTANICAL GARDEN

Although bisected by a major thoroughfare, the Botanical Garden was in many ways hidden and imperceptible even to those who knew of its existence. A new emblematic fence of weathering and galvanized steel pipes marches on both sides of the road creating kinetic pattern that minimizes its impact. Aluminum tubes sheathed in highly reflective traffic film are placed over the steel tubes to form the letters JARDÍN BOTÁNICO UPR.  Sculptural gatehouses on either side of the highway welcome visitors and provide clear entry markings.
