This weekend pavilion was commissioned by a longtime clients who enjoy cooking and entertaining, and is set on a corner lot in Punta Las Marías, San Juan. The project includes two primary structures: a pavilion for leisure and a separate garage/guest building. Situated just a short distance from the client’s apartment, the pavilion serves as a weekend retreat, designed to accommodate the client’s lifestyle and special gatherings.

The pavilion features a principal bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a spacious living, cooking, and dining area, a guest bathroom, a terrace, a swimming pool, and a lush garden. Positioned parallel to a busy main road, the pavilion faces the pool and garden, with the design prioritizing privacy and light. Exposed concrete load-bearing walls along the southern facade provide both privacy and sun protection, while the northern side remains open to the garden, fostering a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Skylights strategically placed above the bathrooms provide natural light.

Adjacent to the pavilion, the garage/guest structure replaces an old service building. It will house a garage for up to eight vehicles with the use of car lifts for the client’s collection of automobiles. The second level includes three guest bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath. Conceived as a background building, this structure will act as a visual and physical buffer, enhancing privacy from a condominium next door. The site’s boundary is defined by a two-meter-high concrete wall topped with a metal frame and colorful bougainvillea, ensuring security and privacy.
